Exchange # 5
Jordan → Adam

I received exchange # 4.3 from Adam in May…
I immediately knew these pieces had reached a point of conclusion, any further actions acted upon these thoroughly manipulated objects would only lead to their demise.

The transformation of objects throughout this project has challenged my ideas about the purpose of making. Adam continues to send me unexpected packages full of interesting decisions. This project has been stirring up memories of my early days in art school and my fear to make choices, the Flat Rate Exchange has reminded me that we must move beyond any expectation from the making process and just allow the process to happen. I find the recycling / cannibalizing of ideas, materials, and flat rate packing to be freeing, but i am always trying to anticipate what Adam will do.
So I decided that the fifth exchange will begin with a list of instructions for Adam… and a little something for protection.
